  1. I stumbled across your blog "accidentally" through a google search about Jacob's case. I live around the corner from where he was killed, and my family and I knew him from the neighborhood. We didn't know him well, but he always said hello to us and always had a smile. Seeing him just always made me smile. There was just "something" about him -- could never really put my finger on it -- but there was something really special and different about him. He stood out from the crowd. My 9 year old used to like to do his dance moves for Jacob because Jacob would always tell him afterwards that it made his day. And my oldest son, a few years older than Jacob, liked him because race was never an issue - we are white, but he never treated us like we were any different than he was. I will miss seeing him around the neighborhood. He definitely had a light that shined. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I have enjoyed reading your blog (and I am now addicted to it) and I am thankful for what you're doing. It's important and it's a blessing. Your words have touched me and I'm sure many others. I hope the community does come together to do something. My family and I would definitely like to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. God bless you!

  2. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Jacob was very special. Today was his funeral and I cannot tell you how much love and joy there was in the air with such a large turnout. Jacob brought love and joy to all he touched. His life was a testimony to how perfect we can be despite our imperfections as we all have them. Jacob saw past all imperfections, all race barriers, income barriers, age differences etc and just loved everyon and everything. I will certainly keep you and everyone posted on new developments for a community movement to bring change to this and all communities. We need to all bond together in this day and age. We cannot wait on the powers that be to bring change. Change begins in us. I look forward to meeting your family in the future. One Love xoxo
